Back in 2018, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles stirred up a storm of excitement with a bold challenge: a competition seeking a visionary master plan to reimagine the La Brea Tar Pits and its accompanying museum. Though the contest centered around the evolution of the park's 13-acre domain and a revitalized museum, our humble endeavor takes a distinctive path. Our sights are set on birthing a groundbreaking international research center dedicated to the study of climate evolution—a beacon of knowledge in a world grappling with urgent questions posed by climate change.

Picture this—when the research center unites with the museum and park, they will blend into a splendid hybrid domain where science, culture, and leisure harmoniously coalesce. Together, they shall tread uncharted territories, creating fruitful intersections that have yet to be explored in the vast landscape of human knowledge.
