Monolithic, Machinic Hybrids perceives architectural formation as part of a
larger, self-organizing, adapting, material process. The studio thesis will venture into an investigation that is extremely sensitive to existing models of self-organization in material, cognition and physical data systems, the intention could not be further than the mere replication of ‘matter’ nor ‘nature’. On the contrary, with the deployment of non-linear computational design methodologies, this
Studio seeks to explore new singularities in the extended territory of contemporary
architectural production.
This project is built with the largest data tower in the world that would collect
all the data converged from the entire US. There is a specific progression of
approaching the tower that creates the unique pilgrimage experience of the power
of data. The perforation on the aluminum panels on the facade from machine
learning of cenotaph+machine adds a monolithic experience as people get close to the architecture.
