The New Elegance is a method of complete design that looks to achieve a synthesis;
to pull the seemingly disparate webs of research, technique, structural thinking, architectural exploration and aesthetics.
Elegant structures possess formal features and material articulation sufficiently
rich to emphasize the realm of bodily sensation. This is also developed through the techniques and procedures used in the design. Buildings that produce elegant
sensations have particular characteristics formally, including presence, formal balance, refinement of features and surface, and restrained opulence.
